This is the 1/35 scale ICM Ford V3000 kit. I have added a trailer kit which was purchased at the Azimut stand at the Telford Show many, many moons ago. I’m not 100% but the floor and side mouldings, and the wheels on the trailer look to have come from an Italeri kit, with Azimut throwing in their own sourced chassis, axles, and drawbar.
Built around 2011 not long after the kit was released it was a straightforward build. The multipart chassis is quite a challenge to keep square and the styrene in my kit was particularly brittle! I have since learned that both axle sets of wheels are way too close to the bodywork! To remedy either a spacer is required to lift the chasses or a re-working of the leaf springs are required. The two-part kit wheels and tyres have an unconvincing and shallow tread pattern which are much better represented these days by numerous aftermarket manufacturers.
The trailer is a simple kit with very few parts but unfortunately it came with some terribly moulded and styrene eating rubber tyres! The rear pair of wheels were replaced with resin ones.
Both vehicles were painted with Vallejo acrylics and weathered with MIG enamels and pigments. This was possibly one of my very first attempts at the chipping technique with hairspray.
Load accessories are courtesy of numerous manufacturers including Tamiya, Bronco and Miniart to name a few.
