There is not a huge chunk of reference material on the Mobelwagen and it appears the majority ended up on the western front. The Tamiya kit is based on the final production model with flat sided armour and would have been delivered from the factory in an overall base coat of dark yellow (Dunkelgelb). Any camo would have been applied by the work crews in the field. The variation in camo patterns are clearly evident in period images. Some look brush painted, whereas many look to have been sprayed on.
The kit is, as you would expect, a pleasure to build. I used the kit 'rubber band tracks' and as a result, and clearly
evident on my build, the track tension looks stretched with no track
sag evident. A set of aftermarket tracks would look more realistic.
I painted it in Tamiya acrylics and weathered with MIG enamels and pigments. Aftermarket accessories added
were an Aber 3.7cm barrel, Eureka XXL tow rope and fuel can, Bronco
plastic ammo cases, Griffon model PE ammo cases and 3.7cm ammo clips,
and Live Resin helmets.
A small base was constructed showing it abandoned in thick dried mud with an allied divisional 'captured' marker handpainted onto a wooden board.
I understand Border Models have since released there own version
