This is the 1/35 scale ICM Ford V3000 kit. I have added a trailer kit which was purchased at the Azimut stand at the Telford Show many, many moons ago. I’m not 100% but the trailer floor, side mouldings, and the wheels, look to have come from an Italeri kit, with Azimut throwing in their own sourced chassis, axles, and drawbar.
Completed around 2011 not long after the kit was released, it was a straightforward build but the multipart chassis is quite a challenge to keep square. The styrene in my kit was also extremely brittle! I have since learned that from an accuracy perspective that both axles are way too close to the bodywork! To remedy this, either a spacer is required to lift them off the chassis, or a re-working of the leaf springs are required. The kit's two-part plastic wheels and tyres have an unconvincing and shallow tread pattern. These are much better represented these days by numerous aftermarket options.
The trailer is a simple kit with very few parts but unfortunately it came with some terribly vinyl tyres! They will, as I have found, melt the styrene wheels. The rear pair of trailer wheels were replaced with resin ones.
Both vehicles were painted with Vallejo acrylics and weathered with MIG enamels and pigments. This was possibly one of my very first attempts at the chipping technique with hairspray.
Load accessories are courtesy of numerous manufacturers including Tamiya, Bronco, and Miniart to name a few, The taurpaulin was made from tissue paper.
You can see in the pic below how the Azimut vinyl tyres on the front axle are slowly melting the styrene wheels
The finished model was placed on a simple base made from a wooden name plate. The groundworks were made from Sculptmold mixed with acrylic earth tones and covered in model grasses and natural earth.
